We’re getting our first real snow storm in Cincinnati as we speak. In some ways, I’m glad I no longer work for a daily newspaper that requires me to trudge through this crap. On the other hand, I don’t really have a good excuse to go play in the snow. Managed to get some shots during my lunch break.

Journalism is not all thrills. Sometimes, interesting stories require art. And sometimes spending weeks searching down an interesting opportunity is just not in the cards. A recent assignment feel in this category. To quote the Cincitecture column, Several weeks ago a local landmark of Modernist architecture was suddenly and unceremoniously closed. Although the future of the Terrace Hotel has been somewhat uncertain in recent years, the closure came as a shock to its employees, who were given just one day’s notice of their impending unemployment, and preservationists, who had planned to hold the Cincinnati Preservation Association’s annual meeting at the hotel on Nov. 9. And to really top things off, it was really a pretty building either. But some nice light and a solid idea what what the story was about lead to a nostalgic photo…of a sign, basically.
